5TH ANNUAL ROLAND PARRISH CELEBRITY GOLF TOURNEY

Five years long, five years strong! The 5th annual Roland Parrish Celebrity Golf Tourney did not disappoint!

Presented by Mark Cuban’s Cost Plus Drugs, Hunt Realty Investments, Bank of America, Matthews Southwest, and Inspire – all team slots were sold out! The Golf Club of Dallas was the location where amateur swingers, along with professionals, showed up and showed out! For the first time in tournament history, a stroke play showcase was added to the festivities.

April McCoy, Kennedi Lee, Makalia Brown and Kendall Jackson, all skilled professional golfers, all full of melanin were recruited by Black Texas Sports Hall of Famer and LPGA golfer Gladys Lee.

Other teams featured Pro Football Hall of Famer Tim Brown, Super Bowl Champion Ed ‘Too Tall’ Jones, UNT Dallas Hoops Head Coach / NBA All-Star Josh Howard, TCU Hall of Famer / NBA 1ST RD Pick Kurt Thomas, and Cowboys Legend Eugene Lockhart.

Event host, businessman and philanthropist Roland Parrish on behalf of the Parrish Charitable Foundation presented the South Oak Cliff, Duncanville and DeSoto football programs with monetary donations totaling $30,000.

National Media Personality Roland Martin was one of the nearly 200 golfers participating, made time to have Roland Parrish on as a guest of his daily digital program, Unfiltered.

Other dignitaries in attendance were Senator Royce West, Mayor ProTem Jesse Moreno, Dallas City Manager Kim Bizor-Tolbert, City Councilmembers Zarin Gracey, Maxine Johnson, Lorrie Blair, and Senior Pastor of Concord Church Bryan Carter.

Toska Medlock Lee and Rodney ‘Hot Rod’ Baker were instrumental in curating this event that featured multiple competitive contests on the course, along with interactive pit-stops, including shaved ice stops, hydration stations, a cigar lounge, and a catfish sandwich recharge stop that was back again by popular demand.
The event culminated after play completed with a feast and an award ceremony where Mr. Parrish was presented a proclamation from former State Representative, Carl Sherman Sr.
“This tournament is more than a game of golf – it’s about building bridges, investing in our young people, and strengthening the communitas we call home. We are proud of the impact we’ve made together and look forward to the continued growth of this mission.” Words from Parrish Restaurants CEO Roland Parrish who expressed his gratitude for the players, sponsors, volunteers, and community partners.
