LIKE FATHER LIKE SON…
In 2014 Roland Parrish threw out the honorary first pitch for the Texas Rangers at the Ballpark in Arlington.
Eleven years later, his son Ro Parrish was invited to Globe Life to follow in his father’s footsteps. After training with former Rangers great Derrick Holland, Ro understood the assignment once he took the field.
Later during the game in the family suite, The Texas Rangers honored Roland, recognizing him with a plaque for his generous philanthropy and his undying loyalty to the advancement of the youth in the Charlie Pride Fellowship.
This year’s class presented him with the framed keepsake that featured a framed rangers jersey with the number 42, representing Jackie Robinson, who served as inspiration for Mr. Parrish and many others. For five seasons the Parrish Charitable Foundation has served as the title sponsor for the groundbreaking internship program that promotes inclusion in Major League Baseball. The Parrish family’s attendance and recognition could be viewed as a good luck charm, seeing the Rangers won in dramatic fashion, in extra innings versus Atlanta.
